Supporting accounting firms in creating an adequate risk management framework in order to be ‘fit-for-the-future’, is one of my strenghts.

Compliance

The sustainability of accounting firms is highly depending on delivering high quality services and being in compliance with laws and professional standards.

I have been involved in developing compliance frameworks (including underlying policies and processes), assessing the strength of compliance frameworks and identifying remedial actions.

In this area the following services can be rendered:

Quality

The current environment requires that accounting firms have a quality framework in place that is designed with a focus on continuous improvement.

I have gained experience in developing & performing domestic inspection programs within local accounting organisations, but also in developing & performing an international program focussed on monitoring quality within more than 160 firms being part of an international accounting network, including identifying underlying root causes for deficiencies that have been identified.

In this area the following services can be rendered:

Training

Sharing knowledge, experience and best practices, is one of my key drivers.

I have been addressing large groups of partners during global or regional conferences, but also like working with smaller groups via training sessions or workshops for partners and staff.

  • Providing training for partners & staff regarding quality (monitoring), compliance & risk management
  • Developing training programs for partners & staff
  • Delivering key-note speeches on conferences
  • Acting as chairman and/or host during conferences

Coaching

The current environment sets high demands on leaders of accounting firms not only in the area of being compliant with professional standards, laws and regulations but also related to management of a professional services firm.

Next to the experience of leading an accounting firm myself, I have gained experience in this area while performing firm-wide reviews in more than 50 firms around the globe, next to performing due diligence reviews on prospective firms before being admitted to an international accounting network (more than 30 firms).

In this area the following services can be rendered:

  • Coaching of the managing partner or (member of) executive committee of an accounting firm
  • Coaching of partners of an accounting firm
  • Coaching of senior managers who are in the process of being admitted as partner of an accounting firm

Based on more than 12 years of experience of working as a Global Head of Quality & Risk Management within a global top-5 accounting firm, I offer accounting firms outside the Netherlands who want to improve the quality (monitoring) of their services and/or organisation, advice on how they can achieve this effectively and ensuring that they are ‘fit-for-the-future’.
